What should education AV planners weigh before specifying tight-pitch dvLED for a lobby versus a lecture hall?

The Rinker project pairs two very different spaces and chooses a different pixel pitch for each, and that decision is worth unpacking for any integrator speccing a campus job.

The lobby wall runs 1.9 mm across 835 square feet of content. At 1.9 mm, the minimum comfortable viewing distance works out to roughly 15 feet (1.9 × 8 = 15.2 ft). A two-floor atrium lobby almost always satisfies that floor-to-viewer distance with ease. The Titus Lecture Hall steps down to 1.5 mm, which puts the comfortable minimum viewing distance at around 12 feet. In a 300-seat tiered auditorium, front-row seats can be considerably closer to the screen than they would be in an open lobby, so the tighter pitch protects image quality for the students sitting nearest the display.
